The Eiders is located on the outskirts of the desirable North Norfolk village of West Runton in Aylmerton. The property is roughly a 30-minute walk from the main village of West Runton, with the beach reachable in under 45-minutes, or 8-minutes by car. “The Village Inn” is a popular pub in the village, great for sunny afternoons, offering a large beer garden and great food! For evening meals a little closer to home, The Roman Camp Inn is just 200 metres from The Eiders.
Within 30-minutes walk of the property, guests will find the National Trust Felbrigg estate! A beautiful 17th century English country house set within over 520 acres of woods and parkland. Spend a pleasant afternoon exploring the grounds and gardens, before stopping for an afternoon coffee at the Felbrigg tearoom!
Those of a certain age may remember the news stories of The West Runton Elephant, after a complete example of a fossilised Steppe mammoth skeleton was found on West Runton Cliffs in 1990! A wonderful tale to tell the kids before exploring the beach and cliffs to see if your family can become the next famous Norfolk fossil hunters! Make sure to stop by the Seaview beach café for lights bites and beverages after a busy day exploring! West Runton beach itself sits below sandstone cliffs, offering a shingle beach on a high tide, before revealing a large expanse of sand and rock pools once the sea drifts out!
With Cromer and Sheringham less than 10-minutes away by car, guests will have an endless list of things to do during their stay. Cromer is a popular tourist destination all year round, known for it’s fantastic pier, and award-winning end of pier show! Brilliant for crabbing, beach relaxation, paddle boarding and surfing!
Sheringham is loved for it’s family-friendly beach, heritage steam railway, local shops, along with it’s fantastic coastal and countryside walks! We’d highly recommend a visit to Sheringham Park which surrounds Sheringham Hall! A beautiful set of gardens, great for family walks, with many activities put on by The National Trust throughout the year!
